Unity Ceremonies

A non-denominational ceremony will mention God and reflect some religious spirituality but without alluding to any one God or religion in particular. This is a great alternative for couples who have a general religious or spiritual belief but who do not prescribe to one particular type of church or religion.

Civil Ceremony

This is a non-religious ceremony that is conducted by a registrar, and is usually held in a town or city hall, or any other place that is legally recognised as being able to hold civil ceremonies. There is usually minimal scope for personalisation in a civil ceremony, such as writing your own vows or having readings.

Unity Sand Ceremony

"blending of the sands" ceremony, each person pours a small container of sand (often two different colors) into a larger vessel to symbolize their "coming together" as a couple.

Unity Candle Ceremony

The bride and groom each hold a lit candle and combine their flames to light a third, larger candle

Jump the Broom Ceremony

The jumping of the broom is symbolic of binding a couple in marriage and also can be used to symbolize fertility and prosperity of the couple.

The bride and groom hold opposite hands (so their arms make a figure eight—representing eternity).
